GMM Estimation of Social Interaction Models with Centrality

چکیده
This paper considers the speci cation and estimation of social interaction models with network structures and the presence of endogenous, contextual, correlated, and group xed e¤ects. When the network structure in a group is captured by a graph in which the degrees of nodes are not all equal, the di¤erent positions of group members as measured by the Bonacich (1987) centrality provide additional information for identi cation and estimation. In this case, the Bonacich centrality measure for each group can be used as an instrument for the endogenous social e¤ect, but the number of such instruments grows with the number of groups. We consider the 2SLS and GMM estimation for the model. The proposed estimators are asymptotically e¢ cient, respectively, within the class of IV estimators and the class of GMM estimators based on linear and quadratic moments, when the sample size grows fast enough relative to the number

متن کاملComparing the performance of GARCH (p,q) models with different methods of estimation for forecasting crude oil market volatility
The use of GARCH models to characterize crude oil price volatility is widely observed in the empirical literature. In this paper the efficiency of six univariate GARCH models and two methods of estimation the parameters for forecasting oil price volatility are examined and the best method for forecasting crude oil price volatility of Brent market is determined. All the examined models in this p...

The chapter discusses generalized method of moments (GMM) estimation methods for spatial models. Much of the discussion is on GMM estimation of Cliff-Ord-type models where spatial interactions are modeled in terms of spatial lags. The chapter also discusses recent developments on GMM estimation from data processes which are spatially α-mixing. I.R. Prucha Department of Economics, University of ...
متن کاملTopology Constraints in Graphical Models
Graphical models are a very useful tool to describe and understand natural phenomena, from gene expression to climate change and social interactions. The topological structure of these graphs/networks is a fundamental part of the analysis, and in many cases the main goal of the study. However, little work has been done on incorporating prior topological knowledge onto the estimation of the unde...
